Despite these factors, there was not a statistically significant difference in mortality rates from coronary lipids heart disease or any other cause between the two groups, and there was a substantial increase in lung cancer in the intervention group, hardly an optimal outcome. Crete, with 40% of its diet made up of fat, had one of the lowest incidences of heart disease.
