| As successful as they comet have been indefinable, AC have moved in looping arcs from out-folk to avant rock to raga-like drones with a disarming ease. It is odd, and possibly some kind of underhanded experiment in itself, that a band this young can be so consistently excellent. Sure, you could say, Feels borrows something of the spastic, airy experimentalism of early Mercury Rev, but it takes it a step further, to the point where the nimble hooks and elastic yelps form an entirely new language. Like the playful, ingenious Sung Tongs, Feels bolts out of the gates with an opening spread of inventive, almost overloaded tracks, before settling into a more meditative second half of longer workouts. |
