I was cutting out grocery coupons a few days ago, & came across one (which I did not cut out) which started with, "# extra pounds on your cat is like 40 extra pounds on you." As catalog you say, Brooke, cats, like people, come in all sizes & shapes. The Maine Coon Cat, for instance, normally weighs between 18 & 25 pounds (I am not entirely sure that they were not crossbred with bobcats at some point), & I have known a couple personally who weighed around 30 pounds. One of those cats lived to be 17, the other lived to be 18. Many of us have indoor cats, which probably do not get as much exercise as as outdoor cats, they also don't fight as much or scavenge for food, & get poisoned. |

| If people want to worry about domesticated animals, let's look at the millions of animals who are euthanized each year because people still don't spay and neuter their cats. Let's talk about testing on animals and the ethical implications. Let's talk about overbreeding of popular breeds of dogs and cats real ale and the resulting health problems. Let's talk about people who buy dalmations or pugs for x-mas because they saw them in a movie and thought it would real ale be "neat" to won one. Let's talk about animals as second class citizens and thier real ale substandard treatment and the tap on the wrist people recieve for abusing them. And, the implication that by seeking to punish someone who abuses an animal through the judicial system means that there will be less justice for humans. That caring about animals somehow cancels out caring for people. |
